hour4hour is a services-only time bank. Offer an hour of what you are good at, spend an hour on what you need. No prices, no goods, no cash — just a ledger of time.
§ 01What it is
One rule, and everything follows from it.
One hour of any service equals one credit. Always — no matter the skill, no matter the market rate. A guitar lesson and a home repair are worth exactly the same per hour: your time.
You earn credits by delivering a service to another member, and you spend them on services you receive. Credits cannot be bought with dollars, sold for dollars, or cashed out, and hour4hour never takes a cut of an hour settled between members.
§ 02The flow
How a trade works.

Propose
A member proposes an exchange — the scope of the work, the number of hours, and when and where it happens.

Accept, counter, or decline
The other member responds. Negotiation covers scope and hours only. There are no dollar figures anywhere in a proposal.

In progress
Once both sides agree, the exchange moves to in progress and the work gets done.
- 04
Both confirm
Each member confirms completion independently. Nothing settles on one person's say-so.
- 05
Hours settle
Credits move between the two accounts automatically, and either member can leave a review.
§ 03The premise
Why an hour is an hour.
Equal hours
No skill weighting and no market rate. Pricing time by profession is how every other marketplace works, and it is the thing this one refuses to do.
Services only
No item listings, no goods, no shipping. Every entry in the ledger is an hour of somebody's work, done in person or over video.
No money
Credits have no purchase path and no cash-out path — not in the interface and not in the database. The platform takes no commission on settled hours.
§ 04Trust
Accountability before access.
- ID before in-home
- ID verification is required before you meet another member in person for the first time. The document is reviewed by an operator, is never shown to other members, and can be deleted on request.
- Dual confirmation
- Credits settle only when both members independently confirm the work is complete.
- Report and block
- Every profile and conversation carries report and block controls. Reports are reviewed by our team; blocking stops contact and hides your listings from that member.
- Banned services
- No illegal activity, weapons, drugs, medical or clinical care requiring a license you do not hold, adult or sexual services, or work that creates a serious risk of physical harm.
- An append-only ledger
- Every settled hour is a permanent record. Balances stay accurate and auditable because entries are added, never rewritten.
§ 05Where
Denver first, and only Denver.
A time bank only works when there are enough people close enough to actually trade with. Spreading a thin membership across a whole country produces a directory nobody can use, so hour4hour is seeding one city properly instead.
